Galicia 93 Pescanova

Photo Gallery of the construction of the WOR class 60, GALICIA 93 - PESCANOVA used by the Spanish sailing team in the Round the World sailing competition.

This vessel was constructed using a laminating technique with pre-impregnated Kevlar fiber and high density foam. After each laminating operation, the deck and hull are subjected to a method of vacuum-drying at a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius.

Once the hull is finished, it is turned over and unmolded to permit the installation of frames and structural bulkheads for deck assembly and to apply all surface treatments and paint finishes.

The launch, which took place on May 7, 1993 was sponsored by the Infanta Doña Cristina.

The Ocean race, held between 1993 and 1994, ventured 33,000 miles in six stages and spread out over five continents.
